Party Gaming Eyeing Return to U.S. Market

Online gaming company Party Gaming, operators of Party Bingo, is said to be in the preliminary stages of reviewing the viability of return to the U.S. market. PartyGaming had a significant American player base prior to the passage of the Port Security Act which had a sneaky amendment added on at the last moment which essentially banned online gaming in the United States. Sources indicate that Party Gaming is optimistic about its chances for return to this lucrative market.

Reuters has reported that the settlement struck between the U.S. Department of Justice and Party Gaming last July not only insulates Party Gaming from prosecution for past activities, but it also will facilitate the company's return to America along with freeing it up for potential M&A activities. Jim Ryan, Party Gaming CEO, was quoted in the recent Reuters article as confirming that the company is in discussions with a multiplicity of American parties on several levels to bring their products of online bingo, casino and poker back to the US.

However, Ryan did take pains to indicate the preliminary stages of the talks, and that Party Gaming's core focus surrounds the consolidating nature of the online gaming industry. The company points to efforts by U.S. Congressman Barney Frank towards repealing the 2006 legislation which prohibits gaming sites from accepting U.S. based customers.
