Where is online bingo headed to?

Titan Bingo which launched earlier this week is another independent online bingo website adding to the growing number of such sites in the past six months. We got used to bingo sites opening on a weekly basis ever since the second half of 2008, with over 700 currently operating in the UK market but most of these sites in the past made use of network bingo systems, allowing them to customize an original online bingo site operating on general software.
However, the trend has shifted in the last six months – We are seeing less network based bingo sites, while more new online bingo sites choose to launch as an independent site – the recent Titan Bingo is just an example, we have Bingo Hollywood launching soon, and GameOn Bingo about to re-launch and make the transition from a network site to an independent one.
What has caused this change? For one, the ever growing competition in the market has made the network sites non-competitive – they are extremely limited in the various games they offer, and cannot change as frequently as independent sites. Perhaps the trigger to this change of trend is the amazing performance of Wink Bingo that has become one of the market leaders in less than two years, using original games and promotions found nowhere else.
The lack of free bingo games in most networks is another key aspect – it has become very common to the point that it’s hard to appeal to users without free bingo offers to members. Moon Bingo is a good example for that – it has re-launched recently as an independent online bingo site focusing heavily on free bingo games and seeing extraordinary success.
However, operating an independent online bingo site requires a greater investment and funding, meaning that we will probably see more independent sites in the future, but less sites overall, and with the massive merger and acquisition deals we are seeing lately, it could very well be that the market is heading towards a few mega brands dominating the market.Related News
