England Football Dropped from Champions, Bingo Halls Closing

 A lot of people here are very disappointed with Manchester United knocked out at the semi finals of Champions League last night, following Arsenal’s loss to Barcelona the day before, and not to mention Chelsea’s failure earlier down the road. I read today on the telegraph that this is the first year since 2004 with no English team in the finals, asking if this is symbolic.
 
I couldn’t help but wonder – is it really? Football is a big part of the English tradition just like, well, bingo halls. And with all the bingo halls closing down in the past year, there is really a feeling these traditions are being forgotten – many of the land based halls closed down in the past 12 months around the UK, with many reasons to blame – the bingo tax, harsh winter and the smoking ban. But the fact is that online bingo business is now bigger than ever, and it looks like the big bingo hall operators like Mecca Bingo and Gala Bingo are making more and more money in online bingo with the land based halls closing down. Have we lost the joy in getting together on Sundays or evenings to play, mingle and laugh?

Well, this might be something to think about… Anyway, I look forward to next year when hopefully the English teams return to dominate European football! And in the meantime, looks like we’ll be playing bingo on May 22nd instead of watching the final…
