Rock Star Takes Up Bingo!
Tuesday, 8 May 2012
We may love online bingo but let’s face facts, bingo fans – it doesn’t have the coolest reputation! Say the word “bingo” to a non-bingo fan or anyone under the age of 20 and they will conjure up images of blue-rinses, knitted cardigans and basically a room of old ladies playing to win bubble bath and shortbread! Naturally we all know that this is not the case, especially when it comes to online bingo, but no matter how hard we all try to banish those bingo stereotypes the game of bingo will forever be thought of as the “old ladies” game. But is all of that about to change?
We can now reveal that one of the biggest living legends in rock and roll could very well be set to turn this dated bingo stereotype on its head! Do the words “Don’t Look Back in Anger” sound familiar? Of course they do – they were sung by one of the biggest Brit-pop-rock groups to ever hit the UK: Oasis! This multi-platinum selling rock band hit the scene way back in 1991 and have stormed the UK charts ever since with their epically popular tunes “Wonderwall”, “(What's the Story) Morning Glory?” and “Little by Little” to name just a few of their colossal hits. Notorious “bad boys”, Oasis have racked up quite a reputation for themselves, seemingly becoming slaves to a stereotype of their own, only theirs could not be further from the one placed on bingo! Never ones to shy away from controversy, the members of Oasis famously brawl in public with both paparazzi and other famous faces, most famously of all Robbie Williams. Noel Gallagher kick-started the 15 year feud by calling Robbie Williams “the fat dancer from Take That” and the pair then continued to swap ever-increasingly bitter insults back and forth, culminating in the pair inviting each other for a fist fight. This is just a drop in the ocean when it comes to the fights and controversy that seem to plague the band and the Gallagher brothers in particular. However it seems that Noel at least is trying to turn his bad boy image around – and what better way to bury this image than to affiliate with online bingo?
That’s right – it was announced last week that “bad boy” Noel Gallagher could be set to promote an online bingo site! According to the Daily Star newspaper, Noel has been offered a substantial amount of money to affiliate with a dwindling online bingo site who have asked the rock star to record his bingo calls as part of a “Best of British” promotion! It has not been reported as of yet whether Noel will agree to associate himself with this online bingo site, but surely this would be as good a way as any to shake that rock and roll stereotype for good?
Noel of course would not be the first celebrity to offer their services to the bingo world if he was to decide to accept the offer. Most famously Barbara Windsor is currently the face of JackpotJoy bingo as the lovely Queen of Bingo – could Noel be her bingo King?
