Tombola Bingo has just inked a two year deal with Sunderland AFC as a shirt sponsor. The sponsorship begins at the start of next season when Sunderland swaps out the old logo of Boylesports for the new Tombola Bingo moniker. Being headquartered in Sunderland, this represents a display of hometown pride for the Tombola crew.
The exposure Tombola is receiving from this sponsorship does not come cheap. Rumors are that the deal entailed a seven figure payment from Tombola which puts them at the high end of bingo advertisers along with Gala and Mecca Bingo. In fact, Tombola CEO Phil Tobin boasts that Tombola now is home to more players than any other site currently in existence. Tombola has a relatively long history in the online bingo business dating back to 1999, and the site has now grown to the point of paying out over £12 million on a monthly basis.
Tombola now has the honor of being the first gaming site other than bookmakers to obtain one of these prestigious sponsorship deals. Boylesports CEO Lee Richardson indicated that Boylesports gave up this sponsorship in a cost cutting bid in order to conform to the current realities of the Irish economy.
